Paris Without The Eiffel Tower? Impossible!

Is there any better known symbol of France than the Eiffel Tower? We can’t imagine Paris without it, yet it was only built in 1889, and it was meant to be temporary. Many hated it at first.

In spite of its amazing fame, few people know its true story. Gustave Eiffel was not the only “father” of The Tower. He wasn’t even the first one to have the idea.

Do you know who really “invented” the Eiffel Tower?
Do you know why it is placed exactly where it is situated along the Seine?
What anecdotes do you know?

To Know More About The Tower

Many books and articles have been written about our Tower. A short article recently published by Le Point gives a good perspective on the Tower, in French of course. Do read it and watch the video that accompanies it. It is informative and a good exercise!

Paris Sans La Tour Eiffel ? Impossible!
